LOCAL RECYCLING RESIDENTS HELP RAISE £15,000 FOR "SAVE THE CHILDREN" CHARITY

For every tonne collected from the green recycling boxes, £1 is donated to the Save the Children charity. During the last ten months 15,000 tonnes of material have been picked up door-to-door in Sefton.

So a cheque for £15,000 has been sent to the charity. Recycling not only makes sure that valuable materials such as paper, cans and glass bottles are saved and re-used - as well as avoiding the ever-increasing cost of dumping them for ever in the ground - but also earns money for charity.

Since recycling started in Sefton, more than £137,500 has been raised for Save the Children.

If you need a green recycling box, because yours has perhaps been damaged or gone missing, just get in touch. David Tattersall has a supply of boxes just for this purpose to help Meols ward residents get back to recycling - and will drop one round to your home.
