The Liberal Democrats have gained a local council seat from the Conservatives in a by-election in Kent.
In the Pembury ward of true-blue Tunbridge Wells the votes cast were: Lib Dem 578, Con 450, UKIP 297. Liberal Democrat gain from Conservative.
