Labour force through plans to build on Green Belt land

Controversial plans to build 670 houses on Green Belt land around Churchtown have been forced through by the Labour majority on Sefton Council. Sefton’s draft Local Plan was approved by the Council despite opposition from community groups and the Lib Dem, Conservative and Independent councillors. Only the Labour councillors voted for the Plan.

Public Inquiry

All is not lost though. The Local Plan will now be subject to a Public Inquiry later this year, where councillors and members of the public can put forward their objections.
