1 – Green Belt

Cllr Nigel Ashton has led the Lib Dem campaign to save our local Green Belt for the last three years. Labour’s Local Plan threatens to cover many acres of green belt with concrete and tarmac. What have the Conservatives done? Nothing.

2 – Churchtown Library

Cllr Nigel Ashton led the campaign to save Churchtown Library and was the founding Chair of the North Meols Library Association, working to open a community-run library in Botanic Gardens. The Bootle-dominated Labour Party closed down three local libraries in Southport. They kept three libraries open in the Bootle constituency.

3 – Botanic Gardens 

When the Bootle Labour Party pushed through the latest round of cuts at the Botanic, John Pugh and the local Lib Dems collected a massive 5000 signature petition against this. Councillor Nigel Ashton spoke out against the Botanic cuts in the Council chamber. The Conservatives did nothing.

Councillors Advice Centre - Saturday 14th June

Meols Ward Lib Dem Councillors John Dodd, Nigel Ashton and Jo Barton are holding their next advice centre on Saturday 14th June, from 11 am to 12 noon at St John's Primary School, Rufford Road, Crossens.

We will be there to meet you and discuss any Council problems you may have. No appointment necessary. Just pop in.

We hold our advice centre at St John's School, Rufford Road, Crossens every month (except August) on the second Saturday of the month.

We also hold a monthly advice centre in Churchtown, at Cafe Moo Moo on Cambridge Road (by the junction with Preston New Road, next to Boots) on the fourth Thursday of every month (except December) from 10:30 - 11:30 am.

Action on litter and dog fouling welcomed

Local Lib Dem councillors have welcomed Sefton Council's decision to help tackle litter and dog fouling on the streets of Churchtown, Crossens and Marshside.

Sefton Council has approved new plans to help tackle litter and dog fouling on our streets and open spaces.

Approval has been given by the Council's Cabinet to start a trial scheme where an outside contractor will be chosen to provide additional enforcement for littering and dog fouling.

Under the scheme, Sefton Council will use an external contractor to undertake patrols across the borough and issue fixed-penalty-notices to anyone caught dropping litter or not picking up their dog's mess.

Storytime is back

Storytime and Rhymetime return following the closure of Churchtown Library thanks to the efforts of North Meols Library Association and Marshside Methodist Church.

Come on a bear hunt with Crossens the Bear when he starts storytime on Tuesday 14th January, 9.15 at The Methodist Church on Rufford Road.
