POSTAL VOTES

How times change.  At one time you had to give reasons why you needed a postal vote e.g. working regularly away from home.  But all that has been swept away.  Anyone can now get a postal vote.  And more and more people are doing just that.

Southport alone now has more postal votes than in the whole of  the borough of Sefton in 2005. This nugget of information was mentioned as an aside at a Town Hall briefing  this week for councillors on the subject of election arrangements.

The deadline for applying for postal votes is 5pm on Tuesday 20 April and proxy votes 5pm Tuesday 27 April.  The contact is: Electoral Services at Southport Town Hall or phone Sefton Call Centre 0845 140 1049. Email: electors@legal.sefton.gov.uk
