We've been contacted by a Southport resident concerned about a worrying phone call made to a local woman from someone who said he was carrying out a "Sefton Security Survey".
The caller, who had a strong Scottish accent, asked to speak to "the man of the house" - a clue that the call was likely aimed at trying to identify people who live on their own and who might be vulnerable to strong arm sales tactics or worse. She just put the phone down and did not say anything.
Detailed information has been passed to the police and we ourselves have contacted Southport's Homewatch chairperson. Needless to say this kind of "survey" has nothing to do with Sefton Council.
