More council staff can now fine thoughtless dog owners and litter louts who create mess in our local parks, playing fields and the beach. Park and beach rangers now have the power to issue fixed penalty fines, not just Sefton's dog wardens.
This is the latest in a series of recent council moves to combat the problem of dog mess and litter. Joint action has already been widened to also get the help of police community support officers. Fines of £75 can be handed out to dog owners who do not pick up their pet's mess and for dropping litter.
